How I can help you

1

1:1 English & Literature Tutoring

Bespoke, one‑to‑one tutoring in English Language and English Literature for KS3, GCSE and A-level students who need focused, personalised support.

Each session is tailored around your child’s curriculum, current texts, exam board, and confidence level, with clear, practical goals: stronger essays, better use of evidence and terminology, and a calm, repeatable approach to exams and assessment.

Five-session courses
(approx. one hour a session, £300-350 depending on Key Stage)

Online and international tutoring via Zoom

High‑quality online tuition for students across the UK and overseas, ideal for families juggling busy schedules or living outside easy travel distance.

Lessons are delivered via Zoom and Google Classroom, with shared on‑screen texts, whiteboards, modelling, shared writing, example essays, and interactive activities, so your child can access outstanding English teaching from home while you save time on travel and logistics.

Google Classrooms include links to materials and online resources to structure revision.

Specialist literacy courses

Targeted courses in KS3 literacy to improve reading age, spelling and understanding.

Focused reading skills for GCSE to build the foundations that so many students are missing: vocabulary, reading comprehension, question processing, essay structure, and clear, confident writing.

Courses can run as individual programmes or in small groups and are especially useful for students who work hard but still “don’t get it”, or whose grades are held back by weak spelling, grammar, and structure rather than ideas.

Reading for GCSE can also be delivered through recorded lessons with feedback. Great for students who have gaps in their basic skills and want to see progress quickly.

KS3 students have the option of 40 minute sessions (£250).

3

Recorded courses for GCSE

Recorded courses for students studying GCSE Literature and AQA English Language.

Whether it is an introduction to the texts or getting exam ready, students can study at their own pace. Each lesson has a task to complete which will be assessed and tailored feedback given so that students can track their progress.

This option is ideal for the self motivated student who needs some specialised support and personalised feedback without the need for face-to-face tutoring.

Bespoke standalone Google Classrooms with materials, online resources, and example essays designed to support the most independent of students.

Five-session recorded courses with personalised feedback (£250).

Isy, Year 13

"Thank you for being the most incredible, supportive and caring teacher I have ever had... I will miss your pure passion for Literature!"

Noelle, Georgia's mum

"Georgia said that she learnt more in her time spent with Charlie than the last year at school! She found the experience refreshing and motivating. I think this says everything about Charlie's communication skills as a teacher. Her enthusiasm about her subject and care for her students is a delight."

Karen, Jack's mum

"I can't praise Charlie enough....she gave my son a real boost in confidence. He felt for the first time he was really understanding what was expected from him in the exams. Charlie is friendly, enthusiastic & extremely knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to recommend Charlie to anyone seeking English tutoring."

Teacher Mum Podcast

My son is taking his GCSEs. Five minutes ago, he was playing with Lego; now, he’s in the eye of the exam storm. As a teacher with over 20 years of experience, I thought I was ready for this. I wasn't.

The Teacher Mum podcast is an honest, and practical guide to navigating the "pivotal years" of your child’s education.

Being an educator gives me a unique lens, but being a mum gives me a completely different reality.

In this series, I pull back the curtain on the triumphs, the struggles, and the constant dilemmas of balancing my professional expertise with the visceral, biological anxiety of being a parent during the exam season.
